Equipment slots Each character has at least a limited ability to equip/wear things, depending on race, class, and in some case other equipment. Following are slot descriptions: Hat - The hat slot represents things worn on the head (or analogous part) of the character. Enchanted hats most typically affect perception and mental function Amulet - The amulet slot represents things worn around the neck of the character. Enchanted amulets can do a number of things, including especially enchantments to vitality and miscellaneous effects Weapons (multiple slots possible) - The weapon slot represents things carried by the character for close combat with opponents. Typically carried in the hand(s), one's weapon is vital to attack and defense. Enchanted weapons often affect offensive and defensive capability, occasionally providing resistances. Launcher - Launchers aid in the use of projectiles. Tossing arrows by hand at an opponent is futile, and in fact the projectile slot cannot hold launcher-only weapons if the launcher slot does not contain the appropriate item for those projectiles. Enchanted launchers frequently affect the damage of projectiles, possibly adding extra effects to them when fired. There also reportedly exist launchers that do not need projectiles. Shield - Shields are defensive tools, protecting the user against enemy attack. Typically held in one hand (or attached to a hand), shields frequently decrease somewhat one's attacking ability according to their size, and may prevent complicated movements needed in spellcasting. Enchanted shields most often are better at blocking attacks, and often grant resistances. Halo (multiple slots possible) - Halos are auras that surround a character. These slots are filled with mystic powder that circles the player in a thick cloud. Ghosts are the only race with an inherent use of Halos, and enjoy special adeptness in that they can maintain 3 seperate Halos at once. Certain powerful armors or rings may grant use of halos to other races, and priests gain use of a single halo at high levels. Normal sand, which is readily available, may be used in a halo by ghosts, which grants them an armor bonus. All other kinds of halos are enchanted, and usually have powerful effects, such as granting an immunity or damaging monsters automatically within adjacent squares Ring (multiple slots possible) - Rings are equipment that fit over the fingers of a character. Rings may have a wide variety of effects on their wearer. Most characters have two hands, and so can wear two rings. Wearing any rings normally prevents the wearing of gloves (and vice versa). Rumors exist of powerful magical gloves that both ignore this restriction and permit the wearing of two rings on each hand. Gloves - Gloves are equipment that fit over the hands of a character. Magical gloves may have a wide variety of effects on their wearer, but most frequently increase physical traits. Wearing gloves normally prevents the wearing of rings. Bracers - Bracers are plates that fit over the wearer's arms. Magic bracers normally affect their wearer's strength or missle weapon use. UpperArmor - UpperArmor is armor that fits over the upper body of its wielder. It may vary widely in weight and material, and is the kind of armor most likely to not fit correctly based on race. Magic Upperarmor frequently affects defense, and may also grant resistances or affect vitality LowerArmor - LowerArmor is armor that fits over the lower body of its wielder (below waist). It may vary in weight and material, and may also grant speed bonuses or permit unusual forms of movement Projectile - Projectiles normally accompany shooters, but depending on the projectile may also be thrown. Form - Ghosts may wear certain form adaptations that radically change their shape. These may grant them powers appropriate to certain other kinds of creatures, such as flight, rapid movement, breath attacks, or similar. Boots - Boots are worn on the feet of the wielder. Magic boots may grant an enchanced kicking attack, and possibly grant novel forms of movement or enchanced speed.
